Plunge taken... Ok, New job...IT guy is completely overwhelmed...(I understand completely) they say that I probably won't be getting my computer right away... So I volunteered to bring my box to work...no problems there. They're a PC shop, but apparently the former members of the video production department all used Macintoshes. So, there's two G5's and a Dual 1gig G4 sitting around. I abscond with one of the G5's...start playing with it. Started to like it. Picked up my last check from my former job...decided that I needed to treat myself...so what do you get a techie geek? Hardware of course. But what hardware? Don't have enough for a Plasma... Fry's had the Mac Mini on sale. Being curious about the Mac now, I went down to see it in person. OMG! This thing is TINY! It had sort of a "cute puppy" appeal... So, I bought one... It's been many years since I last owned a Macintosh...Performa 600 to be exact. Around System 7.5 days if I remember right... OSX is kinda nice...trying to remember the stuff that Presenze showed me about BSD... Remembering that he said "it's not quite BSD, but Apple's implementation of it" Found a cool widget to tail differnt logfiles... I have too damn many computers around here...time for a garage sale! I'm actually sitting here coming to the realization that I actually have weekends off.
no emergency calls from the boss, no responding to and investigating alarm activity at the office.

No more finding out on wednesday that I have to work sat and sun...
Already have some plans sort of planned for today and tomorrow...but the upcoming weeks?

Less than a week
I start a new job...
It's a start up production studio for an internet marketing company. We will be providing streaming media and video production services to our clients.
The good thing is:
I have to have a studio / control room / editing suites all built within six weeks!
The bad thing is:
I have to have a studio / control room / editing suites all built within six weeks!
Another bad thing is actually leaving the company for which I currently work.
Granted, the boss can be a pain to deal with at times, but on the whole, I've worked for worse places and people in my career...
Even more so, I will miss my co-workers. Over the last two years, they've become more than just colleagues, they're my friends...
But, since I'm taking a job across town, and not in another state, I can keep in touch with them, and since a fair amount of these folks freelance, it's a pretty good chance I'll be working with them again sometime in the near future..
